Chinoize is a belgium player from team Sector One who just won the DreamHack Tours 2016 quite easily with a 7-0 run in the swiss round and 8-0 in the playoffs, making him the DreamHack undefeated champion !
He kindly agreed to take time to answer few of our questions, check his interview.
Don't forget to follow Chinoize on his twitter.
First of all , thank you so much Chinoize for taking the time to answers few questions for Millenium ans its community. You just won the DreamHack Tours, boring question but how are you feeling ?
Chinoize: I still can’t believe it! I feel really really happy with this victory :).
You're from Belgium, not so far from France, was it your first tournament in our coutry ?
C. : Offline yes! I also played at the Superbrawl II, here we finished second place. I think the tournament was really good organised and i’m sure I want to participate at the next DreamHack Tours.
Chinoize after his victory
You had an incredible run of 15 victories and 0 defeat, did you excepect such results with your line up ?
C. : No, not at all actually. Friends of my think renolock is not that great and I have not that much expierence with Rogue. I think it went so good because a lot of people where bringing control Paladin.
In the tournament you played , Tempo Warrior, Face Shaman, Miracle Rogue and Reno Demonist. That's 4 very strong decks in the meta, did you hesitate with some others ? Or was it obvious for you ?
C. : No I didn’t. I didn’t really think about a line up or strategy. I just played the decks i'm really confortable with (Reno, Shaman and Warrior) The format forced me to bring a fourth deck. I decided Rogue because I think its currently the strongest deck in the game. My teammate Guukboii is a really good Rogue player, so I asked him a lot of help.
Do you usually build you own decks for a competition or do you start from famous one and maybe doing some modifications after ?
C. : I try to refine the strongest decks. For exemple, I saw Reno N'Zoth at DreamHack Austin. Pavel played it and I really liked the idea. But I didn’t copy it. I gave it his own twist :)
In the final you banned Shaman, did you do this all along during the tournament or were there another class you didn't want to play against ?
C. : I only banned Shaman this tournament.
You're from the team Sector One, your teamates are Arneej, Guukboii, Jackker, Mitsuhide and Lbdutchboy, if i'm not mistakken only Guukboii and Mitsuhide were with you at DreamHack. All the three of you passed the swiss round but you managed to do (obviously ) a way better result than them on the second day , any ideas why ?
C. : Always Lucky? :)
Let's face it, internet was a real issue during this DreamHack, A lot of good players told us they were quickly tilting and playing way worse than they should have, like Elky, was it an issue for you at some points ?
C. : One game, I was really winning with my renolock against Control Paladin. Cause the internet, we had to restart the game. But I was confident enough my Reno wouldn’t lose that game.
Do you stream on Twitch or another platform ?
C. : Maybe I should? :)
Do you project to do any tournaments anytime soon we could follow you on ?
C. : DreamHack Valencia !!
DreamHack Tours 2016 Champion, Chinoize
Last question that intrigued a lot of people, can you explain the origin of your pseudo « Chinoize » ?
C. : chinoise = french I know… But my best friend is a DJ and told me “If you were a DJ, your name would be chi-noize”. So its actually noise from sound in english.
That's it for me, thank you so much for your time, maybe you'd like to say some final words to our viewers who cheers for you, or thanking some people ?
C. : I want to thank everyone who was cheering for me and believed in me. I especially want to thanks my team Sector One, for making this possible and my teammates of course for believing in me, practicing.
