Interview with Oliver « Acid » Sellors about the end of Prophecy by Millenium Azratz

[M]Azratz : Hello guy, I want to thank you for accepting this interview. Can you do a fast presentation for the people who don't know who you are ?

Oliver « Acid » Sellors : Hi there, thanks for wanting to do this interview also. For those who don't know me; my name is Oliver Sellors, known as Acid in the eSports world, and the CEO/Founder of the recently closed Prophecy.

So, as you could you expect, we will discuss about the end of Prophecy. Can you say a little bit more about the end of Prophecy ?

It's so hard to sum up in such a short paragraph, apart from saying that at this moment in time I am not able to take Prophecy to the level it needs to be, in which it would remain at the top of EU CoD. You can read all about it on my Facebook page here though or I'm doing a Reddit AMA here

In global opinion, Prophecy wasn't a team like other, yesterday, we could see a lot of sadness and disapoinment with the hashtag "ProphLife". Why do you think Prophecy was a "special" team ?

I think Prophecy was so special for multiple reasons. Not only was it the first major brand in EU which people could actually support and become attached to, we also had fairly good success over our two years, and we put EU on the global map in CoD eSports. Like NA has always had the likes of OpTic, Envy, FeaR etc, Now EU had the equivalent.

Since the official foundation in 2012, you saw a lot of amazing players. Which player impressed you the most? (In your team and in the world)

When I started Prophecy I wanted to work with Gunshy and XLNC more than anyone out there, in which I got. There was also some incredible players I worked with for a long time like Swanny and Shane, who will always be part of the Proph legacy. I wish I got to work with Tommey longer, or again, but he's in a great team now. If given the opportunity I would love to work with Karma and Proofy also, I have a lot of time for them two and they are incredible players.

To you, what was the best moment during this 2 beautiful years ?

Definitely has to be winning iSeries 45. Although the event is not huge, Proph dominated iSeries and it was the start of what I knew was going to be success. Only our second event as a brand after a 3rd place at EGL5. Going to MLG Anaheim was also amazing, despite our placement, it was still a great trip overall.

English scene is upset by a lot of subsitutions for the CoD Champs. What do you think about this? And in your opinion, which UK teams will be qualify for this event ?

It was always bound to happen once CoD Champs was officially released, and the confirmation of it being 18+. This is why I wasn't rushing to make a team until the beginning of January. Right now I would have to say that Epsilon, TCM, Infused and Orbit would be the obvious favourites for the 4 UK spots.

What do you think about the large domination of CompLexity in the world ? What is their secret ?

Complexity right now have the best of everything, even more so on Ghosts than Black Ops 2 in my opinion. They have 4 of the best players in the world, and they all get on so great from what it seems, they have that togetherness. On top of this the duo of Aches and Teepee is so strong, then you have Mr.X on top of it all.

About the CoD Champs, could you give your predictions (top 5) ? According to you, does a European team can beat an American team like Curse or OpTic ?

It's so hard to say before seeing what teams actually qualify, but if I had to put money on it right now it would be as follows. 1) Complexity, 2) EnvyUs, 3) CurseLV, 4) Epsilon, 5) OpTic.

A lot of amazing players stop the competition because the quality of the game isn't at the top, so what is your opinion about this game ?

It's the same every year in reality, everyone complains about the game, but still play every tournament. A lot of people quit cause they get a real job which stops them playing, but they use the game as an excuse. Personally I think Ghosts is a really good game, just the gamemodes slightly let it down. You can't complain when Microsoft/Activision are putting $1million on the line every year, plus helping other big events grow.

Thank you very much for this interview! I wish you the best for the future and may be a return of ProphLife. ;) You can add things if you want ! :)

Thank you also. Maybe one day we will see Prophecy return, but for now it's goodbye ! I would like to personally thank once again the players who made Proph what it is today: Gunshy, Swanny, VapeZ, Sowerz, ShAnE, Jake, Tommey, XLNC, MadCat, Jurd & Xanity. Also the sponsors that made it all possible to: Red Bull UK, ASTRO Gaming, SCUF Gaming, Philips, GamerGrip and NEEN Media. Make sure to follow me on twitter (@AcidOli) so you can find out exactly what I do next.
