[M] DamCx: First, thank you for your time. My first question will be now that HotS is live, what are your feelings about the game?
[M] Goswser: I like a lot of the new units that have been introduced, especially Viper, Widow Mine, and Oracle. Of course balance isn't all that great right now, but I'm sure in time it will be perfected.
Well, you are talking about the balance. What is the order of the races, ranked by their strength, according to you?
Terran is strongest, Protoss second, and Zerg is weakest.
What would be the required changes to balance the game? Or do you think it is only a matter of time to get used to the new units?
Players are still adapting and improving right now so it's hard to say for certain what exact changes need to be made. Protoss lategame is too strong against zerg, and both hellbat and widow mines are too effective against zerglings though. Also medivacs are really hard for both zerg and protoss to deal with.
As a last question about HotS, what kind of games Zerg players should tend to: short or long games?
Most games Zerg should try to win in early or midgame. A lot of the time this isn't possible because both Terran and Protoss have good defensive capabilities in HOTS, but Zerg should focus on finishing the game or getting a big advantage before lategame. Especially in ZvP, you need to have an enormous advantage if it goes past the 20 minute mark or you can't win against a competent opponent.
Thanks. If you had to compare both WoL and HotS, in terms of the gameplay, and the metagame, would you say they are two differents games, or HotS is an adaptation of WoL?
Heart of the Swarm is an adaptation of Wings of Liberty. The metagame is very different though right now, but I think it will change drastically over the next few months.
Do you think it will tend to WoL's metagame, or something completely different?
Right now it's uncertain, I think a lot of it will depend upon balance patches in most matchups, although ZvP will be different regardless of what changes are made.
Let's talk about something way closer in time. You are attending to the MLG Dallas this weekend. How are you feeling, given that i recall you never met StarTale Bomber in offline tournaments?
I don't think I can win against such a strong Terran player. Bomber is one of the best few terrans at the tournament, and he has been practicing HotS for some time now. I've prepared pretty well though, so maybe I can find weaknesses in his builds to take advantage of.
This is the least we hope for you. As his first match for this same event, Feast is playing against MVP. You met him in the Ro16 during the Iron Squid 2, and won 3-0. Did you talk together about this match? Were you able to give him some advice?
It's a different matchup so I don't think I can advise him on strategy, but I will be there supporting him when he plays his match. I think he has a good chance at winning against MVP, as he has been practicing hard for it.
Well, thank you for your time once more. Now this interview is over, is there anything you want to add for your fans and Millenium.org's readers?
Thank you for supporting millenium! I hope to show some interesting games at MLG regardless of whether or not I win! You can follow me on Facebook, and on Twitter
