The Maddelisk nickname is well-known in the Starcraft 2 community. But who is Maddelisk in real life ?
Hi! I'm Madeleine. I'm working part time at Stockholm University, doing my Ph.D in Maths. But more importantly, I love StarCraft. I don't just play the game, it's a big part of my life. I like watching streams and follow the big tournaments. I also do some casting now and then. Apart from that I like working out at the gym. But I've become a bit lazy about it lately. You only have that much time.
You've only been a high class player for a year or so, but you were already part of three different teams. Was it only bad luck ?
I wouldn't just call it bad luck, but rather shortage of knowledge. When I first joined eSahara I was new to esports in general and above all I was new to the professional scene. eSahara was not that bad of a choice, and when I joined eSahara I couldn't know about the merge with Absolute Legends. I don't think I need to comment on why I left that team. After I left them I was a bit skeptical about joining a new team. But I was contacted by Quantic and I think I made a good choice joining them. Even if it didn't last very long I'm really happy I got to be on that team.
This time you join Millenium Team, wich is known for its stability. What made you choose us ?
After Quantic disbanded I was even more skeptical about joining a new team. I got a few offers but it wasn't until I was contacted by Millenium that I felt like I really wanted to join a team. After looking into the organization around Millenium and talking to players on the team, my choice was obvious. I'd like to avoid switching teams in the future and I am very happy to join such a stable and professional team as Millenium.
What about your goals for this new year. What do you want to achieve and what do you want to improve ?
My goal is always to improve. I need to work a lot on my mechanics and I have a few ideas that will help me there. My goal is also to beat some good players at an offline event.
You probably heard about the Millenium Gaming House, will you come to France to visit us ?
Yes, of course I know about it. I plan to visit the Gaming House in a few months and I'm looking forward to it.
Are you already training for HotS and what are your feelings about this new version of Starcraft ?
I can't say I've played a lot of HotS yet but I will switch over in a month or so. I did however watch some streams and I have a good idea of what's coming. There are some things that I don't like and some that I like. I feel that a few things are made easier for no good reason, like bases showing the number of workers harvesting for example. I do like the new units and the fact that there are so many possibilities in each match up. WoL is lacking that right now if you ask me. For example, spine – infestor – broodlord seems to be the only safe way to play vs Protoss but I don't find camping a lot of fun. So what I hope for in HotS is many possibilities.
What do you want to say to your new fans, and to all the Millenium community ?
First I'd like to thank Millenium for giving me this opportunity. To all the people cheering for me, I want you to know that it means a lot. Big thanks to all of you. I will work hard and do my best to become as good as possible, hopefully you will see more of me in the year of 2013. <3
